SVS Solicitors are currently looking to recruit a full time paralegal to join our busy criminal team.
We require a candidate who has experience in criminal defence who is accustomed to dealing with their own clients and case load. The candidate must have the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in relation to legal aid and prior authority applications. Police station accreditation is desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate must demonstrate passion and experience in a broad range of public funded criminal law. Applicants should be able to demonstrate not only a strong academic background but also a common sense approach.
Required experience: One year
Full driving licence and use of a car desirable.

SVS Solicitors offers a number of unpaid work experience placements throughout the year giving students an insight into life in a busy criminal defence firm.
Each work experience placement is different, but all of our placements are designed to give students the opportunity to make the most of their time at SVS. During a work experience placement, you will meet people at all levels within the firm and gain real hands-on experience by sampling lots of different aspects of the role of a lawyer, including (but not limited to):
- Attending court and meetings with clients and counsel;
- Legal research tasks;
- Drafting documents;
- Shadowing qualified lawyers; and
- General legal admin such as bundling.
