PARALEGAL 

We are currently looking for a Paralegal to join our team.

The position is Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Full time:  Hybrid

Salary: Negotiable based on experience

Degree: Law 2:1

Driver’s License and Car: Required

We are looking to recruit a paralegal with experience in the criminal defence field. It would assist if experience, working with the courts and digital case systems.

We require a candidate who is accustomed to dealing with magistrate and crown court cases and can work independently with solicitors or consultants.

It would be beneficial to have knowledge in relation to legal aid and prior authority applications.

The position involves multitasking and requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to proofread.

The candidate should maintain a flexible and proactive approach to work, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills so that work is prioritised and progressed.

Police station accreditation is an advantage.

DUTY SOLICITOR

SVS  Solicitors is modern and dynamic law firm based in Gerrards Cross and  committed to delivering high level of client care. SVS Solicitors is a well respected  criminal defence  legal practice. We are trusted by our clients and are looking for self-motivated, innovative, and driven individuals to join our team.

Hours: Full Time

We are looking to appoint a  PQE Criminal Duty Solicitor to join their highly regarded team.

Minimum 3 years PQE and duty qualified is a must

Main Duties:

  • Representing clients at the Police Station and  Magistrates Court
  • Interviewing witnesses
  • Dealing with clients requiring specialist criminal law advice in person
  • Ensuring all relevant information is recorded
  • Flexibility to travel, attend courts, and work out of hours as and when required
  • Dealing with correspondence and telephone queries, managing the client’s expectations
  • Providing written advice and drafting legal documents
  • Managing a full caseload and ongoing work coming into the department
  • Managing and supervising junior colleagues, i.e. newly qualified solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers/paralegals to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities
  • Maintaining proper diary systems i.e. court and tribunal dates, limitation dates, and timetables set by courts/tribunals
  • Servicing your Duty Solicitor Rotas
  • Working as part of a team with all staff to meet our business goals
  • Developing the department and generating work
  • Taking initiative and responsibility for own personal and professional development
  • Maintaining departmental standards, procedures, and policies

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Representing clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Court
  • Strong advocacy skills ability to conduct your own advocacy
  • Sound knowledge of Criminal law with at least 3 years PQE
  • Ability to interview clients and witnesses
  • Good client care skills and commitment to these areas of work
  • Ability to work independently as well as being an excellent team player
  • Excellent communication skills, combined with organisational and administrative ability
  • Independently managing your own casework, liaising with clients, providing advice over the phone, by email and other mediums
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise your workload
  • Procedural and technical competence
  • Well-developed IT capability
  • Working to deadlines, logically and methodically with an eye for detail
  • The ability to build relationships with other professionals and third parties
  • Police station duty accredited
  • A full UK Driving license is essential
